Latest Work on Galley

Visited Jubilee on 19th Sept 2010 to view the work on board. Colin and John CB Boats are doing a super job, We just wish it did not take so long to complete the refit.
We have not been cruising at all this summer and are looking forward to enjoying our retirement cruise.

Slow Progress

Well we have not been cruising this summer as planned. We both gave notice to finish work with a plan of summer on the boat. We took Jubilee to have Boat Safety Cert  which was due in April. The plan was then to cruise and take her back to the yard to be refitted. However the yard said a change of plan. Leave her with us we can do the work now. Well after 12 weeks only a little work had been done. Not properly either, so new fitters were brought in to do a proper job. Time has flown past and the latest photos taken of work done to date.
Wishing we had gone boating instead. T and J.

The leaving party went well. Arrived home in a police car, torn and bloody hands and knees, ruined trousers at 1.45am. Got lost on way home apparently. Police - Are you all right Sir? Me -No, I retired today, partied too well, keep falling over. police -Would you like a lift home Sir? Do you know where you live? Me Thanks very much ect.

Retirement draws near

Well, we both gave notice to retire to our respective employers. In four weeks time we shall be free to follow a dream. There is a long list of work to be done on the boat and at home too. We shall need to order a fleet of skips to get rid of the accumulated junk( kept in case).
Anyone need a 7ft by 4ft slate bed pool table? There is just not room on a narrowboat, or should we get a widebeam? Then there are three motorbikes, citroen 2CV, canoe, dinghy etc.Offers considered.

Work in progress

Work has started to run some water and gas pipes. Then the bulkheads, radiators, toilet, basin, shower, galley can go in. Some tiling, flooring, lights, fan, mushrom vents, some low level ventilation, handrails, wardrobes, bed.
So, not much really.

There is a real ale beer festival on in Brighton. Research is continuing into the merits of differing Ales. I was going to report on the merits of each one but keep losing track.

2. A new gas regulator and hose required and replaced.

3. Label needed moving - done.
All Thanks to Jane and John at www.northkilworthwharf.com/

North Kilworth Wharf

A little trip to Kilworth wharf to see Jane and John. The boat safety check is coming up soon. there are some jobs that need attending in order to pass I believe.
A cold damp day on the trip but I still had a grin on my face to be boating again.

Emails by Grannybuttons

A.Denny asked why do people disguise their Email addresses on contact pages. I guess from the responses that although boaters and others like to socialise with others, all of us are wary of Hackers and other parasite low life  types. Wouldn't it be lovely if everyone was thoughtful and helped the world to become a beautiful and productive place to enjoy liveing?

Weddings and Meadowhell

A day out on the train to Sheffield to visit Meadowhell or is that Meadowhall shopping centre?  There was no opt out option for this. Our daughter is getting married and insists her parents look less like relaxed scruffs.
the result was her mother now looks very happy with new outfits, even though I allowed her to buy something a year or three ago. I, too, have a new suit etc.
No comments invited.

Escape for a Few Hours

We managed to escape to Jubilee for a few hours on Monday. Lit a fire to defrost the windows. Spent some time checking over the boat and cleaning away mould and leaves from the cabin sides.
We put the new BW licence on show. At £5 odd minimum wage that took some earning, and the Boat Safety is due in April. We went to some boat fitters for quotes for a bit of work to prepare her. Alasdair Lawrence did the last certification. We had hoped to be living aboard before now but finances dictate otherwise. The house needs work, the boat needs work and well, you can guess the rest.
We shall take her to Jane and John at North Kilworth Wharf for a little TLC soon.

Anyway we had a good lunch at The Red Lion Crick and enjoyed a freezing afternoon on the boat, arrived home at 8.30pm for chicken fricasse and mexican rice. All in all, a good day. Now back to work! Mr.T.
