Geese

Rabbit through the galley windows and on the towpath, geese and goslings. Peace and quiet on the Grand Union Leicester Arm. What a super cruising experience in fine weather in April. Lots of other boats too.

Polished and painted.

What a shame. We have had to return home for a hospital appointment for a short period. At least the boat looks better. We shall contact John the joiner to get some more work done and leave Jubilee to his care. Soon we will be setting off for the summer. The webasto is still playing up and needs attention.

Cruising and painting.

We ambled along the canal to bridge 23 where we stayed a couple of days. We have been cleaning and polishing Jubilee a little. We scraped the rust, sanded the woodwork. Rust remover and primer applied, followed by top coat. Woodwork was stained and varnished.
Varoius bloggers have passed or been passed. Chas and Ann of Moore2Life , The Herbies, Wanderin Bark Calf Heath. We played with the sat nav and Water Explorer. We cannot work it properly yet. The location is supposed to automatically update but has stayed as the 2009 post location. My current location and journey stays the same too.

CB Boats

Colin fixed the Webasto today. He had to pull the  fuses a few times to get the control unit to light up. He also drained the burner pot and removed some water from the separator on the fuel line. It stopped again a couple of times before it cleared and ran for a couple of hours. Now switched off. We shall try again tomorrow.

Bridge 27 Yelvertoft Fieldside Covert.

A short three hour cruise today. We took the opportunity to wash the boat down and clean her up a little. Looks better, Need Jo to come and repaint her like Hadar!
Moored in a peaceful spot by Bridge 27.

Log For 16/04/2011

Jubilee Log 2011.

3159.4 engine hours for Jubilee at the end of today’s  travels.
We set  off  after we had pumped out the toilet facility about 10.30am.
On Saturday 16 April 2011.  The day was sunny, warm and bright.  In fact   urday 16 April 2011 . the toilet facility about 10.30am on
it was a lovely day for a boat trip. We travelled the full distance from Crick to the Welford Junction, around 10 miles.  It was a long trip as we had to charge up the battery by travelling for 8 hours. The scenery was absolutely glorious. We saw a heron. Tony saw a squirrel. We turned at Welford Junction and winded. We think we stopped for the evening between Bridges 34 and 33.  It is a very peaceful spot to rest for the night. Mind you, no shower, only cold water from the showerhead.  Plenty of hot water in the tank and from the sink taps on the same line.

Super Day on the Grand Union Leic arm

A super days cruising in the sunshine. Quite a few on the move. We passed Moore 2 Life too. Moored with no one else in view watching and listening to the birds. A nice coffee with a shot of Bells added.
Candles burning for those romantically inclined.

nbHerbie

We met the Herbies today at Crick. Enjoyed a chat and being entertained by Granddaughter Grace. Then a call from the Galley Slave that the evening meal was ready. So goodbye for now and talk later, Bye.

Fitout Report.

Well we are onboard for a few days and will set out tomorrow to put some life into the boat. Batteries were low so we have been charging them today. The battery straps are still absent and the box in bits. Screwed some trim to the cabin sides over the bed. The webasto still smoking and shutting down.
John the joiner has done the doors for the under bed storage, completed the hull trims and fitted the front saloon cupboards. The side steps are now fitted. The wardrobe shelves and hanging rail.
Jobs still waiting are the inner side hatch windows, the stern door and hatch, Bedside lights and wardrobe wiring cover. Shower room towel shelves. refit floor carpet tiles. Radiator flow and return pipes seem to be connected wrong way round.

Fitout nearing completion.

I phoned the builders again today. John has been working on Jubilee again and is there this week. He will ring me on Wednesday and is hoping to complete the work this week. Maybe we can go cruising this weekend.
We are so looking forward to viewing the completed work. Keep your fingers crossed for us.

Brodsworth

A lovely walk around six miles of woodland.

Joiner John

The joiner has made the doors for the under bed storage and for the cassette loo. Plenty of jobs still to be completed. Some of the beading on the hull has been fitted but needs varnish. The side hatch and stern door and hatch not done yet. I shall go down and make a full list again for CB Boats. Last August completion missed by months, we began the refit last March.
